Junior Team Tennis is coming to Springville. (Tournament Play)
JTT teams are composed of girls and boys playing fun, competitive tennis. The teams will play matches against teams from Pell City. The format for a team match is one boys’ singles match, one girls’ singles match, one boys’ doubles match, one girls’ doubles match, and one mixed doubles match. The minimum number of kids for a team would be three boys and three girls, but we would want more than that to avoid forfeits. The age divisions are 18 and under, 14 and under, 12 and under, and 10 and under. There is a possibility that the 10 and under group might form teams that have fewer kids and so they would have a different format. Matches will be played on Sunday afternoons at the Springville Station Sports complex and the Pell City Tennis Center on Stemley Bridge Rd. The season will start in September and run through October.
Parents will serve as coaches for these teams, but they will have plenty of support from member of Springville Players Club.JTT team members must join USTA and there will be a local fee to cover expenses. Children should be able to serve, keep score and rally the ball with their opponent. All coaches must complete the USTA Safe Play online course and have a background check that is available through the USTA website. The number of teams we can form will depend on the number of parents who agree to coach. If you would like your child to play Junior Team tennis, please complete the questionnaire.
