Part-Time Senior Center Bus Driver


JOB SUMMARY

Part-time position. The City of Springville is searching for a bus driver with a heart for service for the seniors within the Springville community. Candidates must be able to navigate directions successfully. Experience in transporting people is beneficial, and a basic knowledge of our service area is expected. Our driver is expected to drive a 26/28 passenger bus. You must have your CDL and Passenger endorsement.  Typically, drivers will drive 2 outings a month most months and possibly a 3-day trip, once a year. Adherence to City, State, and Federal policies and laws is mandatory. Safety-cautious individuals are a must.


DEPARTMENT

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.

·       Excellent communication and customer service skills.

·       Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.

·       Strong problem-solving, conflict management, and organizational skills.

·       Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

·       Time management skills ensuring arrival to locations on time.

  • Transport Senior Citizens to their destination safely without sudden adjustments in speed and direction.
  • Adhere to the City of Springville’s policies and procedures handbook.
  • Organize and oversee general bus maintenance monitoring; check oil, and fuel and notify Sr. Center Director of any maintenance needs.
  • Assist Seniors and staff with any tasks as needed.
  • The driver must be an adept driver, efficient in cruising through all traffic and weather conditions safely and smoothly.
  • The driver must be able to work well with others with sincere, honest, and transparent interactions.
  • The driver should take proper care of the Senior Citizens while transporting.
  • Know how to keep a level head in a busy environment.
  • Must be passionate about helping people with a heart for service.
  • Monitors participant compliance with all policies, laws, rules, and regulations of the Senior Center.
  • Must be available for the entire day of trips and activities.
  • Capable of lifting objects such as luggage to load the bus and assist seniors entering/exiting.

Part-Time Recreation Leader

JOB SUMMARY

This is a regular part-time position, 29 hours a week. Coordinates and assists with grounds and maintenance needs within the Parks and Recreation managed properties. A large portion of this position’s duties will require physical labor working in various outdoor weather conditions and include afternoons, nights, and weekends.

The principal functions are to maintain and prepare sports game fields including mowing, chalking, painting, and dragging fields. The work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Parks and Recreation and/or Athletic Director or other athletics staff. The General Laborer duties of employees in the Parks and Recreation Department are required as listed or assigned by supervisory personnel. This includes general maintenance duties, assisting with construction projects, cleaning the parks grounds and buildings, and operating basic landscape related equipment. Cleaning and maintaining equipment, equipment rooms and press boxes.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepares game fields by chalking/painting and cutting fields.

· Assists with special events and other park activities as needed

· Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.

· Attends meetings and training sessions as necessary to become and remain current on the principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

· Valid driver’s license

· Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work

SKILLS

· Ability to adapt to the daily challenges associated with a busy work environment

· Excellent communication and customer service skills while interacting with the public

· Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions

· Strong problem solving, conflict management and organizational skills

· Capacity to operate a variety of landscape and park maintenance equipment

· Capable of lifting equipment, tables, and a variety of heavy objects

· Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and nights

· Experience in equipment operation and landscaping maintenance

· Knowledge in maintenance and sports field management is desired

· Working knowledge of City properties and programs is desired
